Wellness Centered Dentistry is committed to helping our patients achieve optimal dental health for a lifetime. This goal requires a different approach to dental care, one that involves treating people as individuals and spending the time necessary to understand each person’s priorities and unique dental challenges.
Historically dentists were trained to be dental “repairmen” who would “fix” things when they broke. This model was based on treating the effects of disease and had little to do with controlling the causes of disease and preventing future problems. Patients receiving this type of care usually experienced a general decline in their dental health over time and often lost their teeth and spent the rest of their lives struggling with a denture. This approach lacks planning, prevention, and predictability and unfortunately is the model still used by most dental practices today.
At Wellness Centered Dentistry we work more like “investigators” who identify the underlying causes of dental destruction unique to each individual. Once we have identified these risk factors we can develop a lifetime strategy to restore dental health and control these sources of damage. This approach helps to prevent dental destruction in the future, maximizes longevity of teeth and dental restorations, and helps create a lifetime of healthy smiles.
Our state of the art dental facility was built in 2011, and was designed to create a warm and comforting environment. When you come to see us we want you to feel at home. You can stop in early and enjoy a cup of soothing herbal tea and relax in our inviting reception area.
The comfortable and open treatment rooms are outfitted with the most advanced dental equipment available including comfortable ergonomic patient chairs, Digital dental X-rays, Digital photography, Dental Lasers, and electric hand-pieces. This technology makes dental treatment safer, more comfortable, more precise, and more efficient.
At Wellness Centered Dentistry, our primary focus is developing personalized relationships with each of our patients. Our motto is “Individual Care for Individual People”. This means that our agenda in providing dentistry is to give you all the information you need about your dental conditions, risk factors, and treatment options so that you can make an informed decision, find out what your agenda is, and help you to accomplish it.

The story; when my dentist retired, I decided I would look for a holistic dentist; one who could safely remove the amalgam fillings from my teeth, one who could assist me in bringing my teeth and gums back up to par. So I searched from Portland to Eugene and thankfully chose Dr. Whicker for my new dentist. I've been pleased and I've been delighted by my choice ever since. Dr. Whicker has been the best dentist I've ever had, and at 70 I've had many. He's caring, kind, gentle, and he does excellent work. He even calls in the evening after an appointment to make sure everything is okay. He also honors my special preferences, including as few x-rays as possible.
Dr. Whicker's staff also offer excellent service. I feel as pampered there as I would at a day spa. Blankets, soft music, warm pillows, and spending the day in a chair; I really appreciate that because I live two hours north of Eugene so I usually try to make my visits to Dr. Whicker count! To be more specific on his staff, Julie, Dr. Whicker's dental hygienist, is probably the best dental hygienist in the state - no small matter. Due to Julies excellent care and advice, my teeth and gums are now shiny clean and healthy too! Dr. Whicker's receptionist Lizzy is a ray of sunshine; always cheerful and helpful. Angie personifies knowledge. That said, you can now understand why I chose Dr. Whicker and his staff with alacrity. Thank you very much!

Outstanding Eugene dentist, highly recommended! I had a very pleasant experience with "Dr. Rob" and all the wellness dental staff. I had sorta "skipped" the dentist while in college here in Eugene, and had some fairly big issues to deal with. But Dr. Rob and the staff did a great job at helping me through the process of getting caught up on my dental health, and provided some great payment plan options and I'm feeling great about having long-term care now.

This must be the coziest dental office in Eugene or Springfield, Oregon! When I walked into the Wellness Centered Dentistry office the first time, I was amazed that it was just as warm and inviting as the picture on their website. At first I thought the fireplace and stuff would just be a gimmick, but that welcoming feeling really carried through my entire dental cleaning. The staff was warm and friendly, and Dr. Whicker really spent the time to make me feel like I was his primary focus. Feels like home!
